Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By installing or using the PasteGuard Chrome extension ("the Extension"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension.

2. Description of service

PasteGuard is a browser extension that intercepts paste and keyboard events on supported AI chat interfaces and replaces detected sensitive data patterns with anonymous placeholders, in order to reduce the risk of inadvertently sharing personal information with AI services. The Extension operates entirely locally; no data is transmitted to PasteGuard servers unless you activate a Pro or Business subscription (see §5).

3. Free tier license

Subject to these Terms, PasteGuard grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Free tier of the Extension for personal or commercial purposes. The Free tier is provided "as is" with no warranty. We may modify, limit, or discontinue the Free tier at any time with reasonable notice.

4. Paid subscriptions (Pro and Business)

Pro and Business subscriptions are sold via our payment processor (LemonSqueezy or Paddle). By purchasing a subscription you also agree to the terms and privacy policy of the applicable payment processor.

• Billing: Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected at purchase. Prices are in USD and exclude applicable taxes (VAT handled by our payment processor).
• Cancellation: You may cancel at any time through your subscription portal. Access continues until the end of the current billing period; no prorated refunds are issued for unused time.
• Refunds: We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee from the date of first purchase. Contact hello@pasteguard.app within this period to request a refund. No refunds after 7 days.
• License key: A Pro/Business license key is issued per purchase and may be used on up to 3 browser profiles simultaneously (Pro) or per contracted seat count (Business). Sharing or reselling keys is prohibited.
• Price changes: We may change subscription prices with 30 days' notice. Price changes apply at the next renewal; you may cancel before renewal if you disagree.

5. Data and privacy

Please refer to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The short version: we collect no personal data from Free users; Pro/Business users transmit only their license key for validation.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works of the Extension;
• Use the Extension for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any third party's rights;
• Attempt to bypass, disable, or circumvent any license validation or feature-gating mechanism;
• Redistribute the Extension outside of official channels without prior written permission.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. PASTEGUARD DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE EXTENSION WILL DETECT ALL SENSITIVE DATA IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, BE FREE OF ERRORS, OR BE UNINTERRUPTED. YOU ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR VERIFYING THAT SENSITIVE DATA HAS BEEN PROPERLY MASKED BEFORE SUBMITTING TEXT TO ANY AI SERVICE.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PASTEGUARD SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE EXTENSION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DATA BREACHES RESULTING FROM UNDETECTED SENSITIVE INFORMATION. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR YOUR CURRENT SUBSCRIPTION IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

9. Intellectual property

The PasteGuard name, logo, extension code, and all associated components are proprietary and all rights are reserved. No part of the Extension may be copied, modified, distributed, or used to create derivative works without prior written permission.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, by displaying a notice in the extension popup. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Italy, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Italy.
